What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

      Directions

Before application, ensure that your horse's coat is clean and dry. Remove any excess dirt or debris to allow for optimal absorption.

Open the applicator and hold it upright. Gently part the hair at the base of your horse's mane, starting between the withers and moving up towards the poll. It's essential to apply Equi-Spot directly to the skin for maximum effectiveness.

Squeeze the applicator to release the solution in a single spot. Make sure it contacts the skin. Repeat this process in a few strategic locations along the mane, taking care not to saturate one area excessively. The number of spots to apply will depend on your horse's size, but a general guideline is one to four spots along the mane.

Equi-Spot is water-resistant, but for the best results, avoid bathing or exposing your horse to heavy rain within the first 24 hours after application.

Equi-Spot provides long-lasting protection, typically lasting up to two weeks. However, in high pest pressure areas or during the peak insect season, you may want to reapply every two weeks to ensure continuous protection.
