Description
Clomipramine (Clomicalm) is used for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders, separation anxiety, and aggression in dogs in combination with behavior modification techniques and in cats for the treatment of certain behavior problems, such as urine spraying, aggression, or compulsive behaviors such as over grooming and wool-sucking.
Directions
Use as directed by your veterinarian. The usual dose of Clomicalm in dogs is 0.9-1.8mg/pound or 2 - 4 mg/kg every 24 hours given as one or two doses per day. The usual dose of Clomipramine in cats is 0.5mg/pound or 1.1mg/kg every 24 hours.

Side effects of clomipramine may include drowsiness, dry mouth, rapid heart rate, difficulty urinating, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. The incidence of vomiting may be reduced by administering Clomicalm with food.
Clomicalm should not be administered to dogs with a known hypersensitivity to clomipramine and related tricyclic antidepressants. Do not administer Clomicalm to pregnant or lactating animals or in male breeding dogs. Use with caution in animals with epilepsy, liver or kidney disease, heart rhythm disturbances, thyroid disease or glaucoma. Clomicalm should not be administered with certain medications such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for example Seligiline or Amitraz which is found in Preventic tick collars or in mite treatments such as Mitaban or Demadex wash.
